When to use it

The funnel narrows a list by criteria. Put a badge or dot on it when filters are active — silent active filters are one of the classic table UX failures. Keep it distinct from sort, which reorders without removing anything. Heroicons, Phosphor and modern Lucide all name it funnel rather than filter — the name describing the drawing instead of the function.
