When to use it

Language and region pickers, 'public' visibility states, and generic internet-ness. If you use it for locale, pair it with the current language's name — a bare globe button is famously ambiguous. Tabler names it world, and Heroicons' globe-alt is the meridians-only version. For map contexts prefer the map or pin icons; the globe is abstract, not geographic.
