When to use it
The % glyph means a rate, a discount, or a proportion. The voices split: Lucide, Phosphor, Feather and Remix draw a plain percent sign, while Heroicons puts it on a badge (percent-badge) and Iconoir plain (percentage) — the badge versions read more like 'sale' than 'ratio'. Pick the plain sign for a data or rate context and the badged one only when you specifically mean a promotion.
Reach for percent when a value is a proportion or rate — a discount, an interest rate, a completion figure, a tax line. The plain sign is neutral enough for dashboards and forms; the badge variants lean promotional. Use it where the number's percentage nature is the point, and keep it separate from generic money glyphs, which say 'an amount' rather than 'a share of something'.
