When to use it

Take back the last action. The classic drawing is an arrow curling back to the left — Heroicons' arrow-uturn-left, Remix's arrow-go-back — and it should always be paired with redo, disabled when the history is empty. Don't substitute a counter-clockwise circular arrow: that reads as refresh or reset, a much scarier operation.
